Rocky Mountain High

The Mets beat the Phillies three out of four and now are poised to play a three game series against the Colorado Rockies. The Mets starting pitching is a little banged up heading into this series with Jorge Sosa on the 15-day DL and Oliver Perez missing one or two starts because of a stiff back.
The Mets will have Tom Glavine on the mound tonight against the Rockies Jason Hirsch. Glavine is just three victories away from the magic number of 300 career victories. He enters tonights game with a 7-5 record and a ERA of 4.12. Hirsch is 3-7 with a 5.21 ERA. The Rockies were playing winning baseball until they met the Houston Astros. They lost two out of three games including a 12-0 shutout yesterday.
Four Mets were named to the All-Star team: Reyes, Wright, Beltran and Wagner. I will find it difficult to watch a game that has Bonds on the team---I don't believe he is deserving of being an All-Star this year and wish he would pass Aaron (though I will never recognize this fact) and retire. Baseball needs fewer players with his ego and lackadaisical play.
Speaking of lackadaisical play, did you see Julio Franco take his sweet time to first base on the last out of yesterday's game? He might have been safe had he run hard because Utley had kicked the ball and the Mets could have kept the inning alive. It's time for Mets management to come to the realization that he doesn't belong on their ball club anymore. Enough with the damn experiment of playing until he's 50. Let another team use a slot for him.
