According to Yahoo Sports writer, Tim Brown, the Mets have decided to name Howard Johnson their new hitting coach and have new coach, Ricky Henderson coach first base.
Johnson managed and was a hitting instructor in the Mets' minor leagues before being named to the parent club as first base coach before the start of this season.
Johnson replaces Rick Down who was fired after the All-Star break.
