Mets beat Marlins 7-1

The Mets took advantage of the Marlins' horrendous defense, aided by a strong outing by their ace and sluggers, Wright and Bay to beat the Marlins 7-1.
Ironically, before the season, Marlin's owner and GM pretty much made it clear that they are a World Series contending team and anything short of that would mean big changes.
Hey, it's only one game but the Marlins as WS-bound is not a sure thing and pressure like that on a team shows that their management is a bit short of common sense.

But the Mets played well in the field (one D. Wright error) and great outfield work by Matthews, Jr., in a windy ball blown afternoon, got strong pitching from Santana, Nieve and Rodriguez to win another opening day game.

They have tomorrow off and return Wednesday and Thursday night to finish the opening series.

The Mets play the Fish 13 times before the All-Star break.

Mets 1-0 Marlins 0-1
